I and Yamguchi jointly proved a topological classification theorem for collapsing three-manifolds under a lower sectional curvature bound. This theorem was also announced (without proof) by Perelman and was used in his proof of Thurston's geometrization conjecture. In my talk, I will survey collapsing manifolds together with our theorem.
